Massacre of 1951 in Albania

The Massacre of 1951 in Albania was the killing without trial of 22 intellectuals in the Socialist People's Republic of Albania on 26 February 1951, as ordered by Enver Hoxha, accused of bombing the Soviet Union's embassy in Tirana. The victims were 21 males and one female. One day earlier, another person, Jonuz Kaceli had been killed while accused of the same crime. It was the first time the Agitation and Propaganda law was used.

National Archives of Albania

The National Archives of Albania (Albanian: Arkivi Qëndror i Shtetit or A.Q. SH) is the national archive of the Republic of Albania, located in Tirana. The Archive was created in 1949 with a decree from the Government of Albania dated 6/8/1949, as a centralized state organ. The documentary content withheld in the A.Q. SH. has national and historical values of both national and international importance.

Palace of Culture of Tirana

The Palace of Culture of Tirana (Albanian: Pallati i Kultures) was built on the Pazari i Vjeter area of Tirana by request of the Party of Labour of Albania. The first stone of the building was symbolically put by Nikita Khrushchev in 1959. The work was finished in 1963. The architecture is very similar to many communist era social buildings in Eastern Europe. There have been virtually no renovations to the building since its construction.

National Historical Museum (Albania)

The National Historical Museum (Albanian: Muzeu Historik Kombëtar) in Tirana, Albania, is the country's largest museum. It was opened on 28 October 1981 and is 27,000 square metres in size, while 18,000 square metres are available for expositions. The museum was designed by Albanian architect Enver Faja. The construction of the museum required the demolition of the former Tirana Municipal Building. The gigantic mosaic appearing at the main entrance is entitled The Albanians.
