Kin Kin, Queensland

Kin Kin is a village that lies between Pomona to the south, and Gympie to the north, in South East Queensland, Australia. The town is a hub for recreational activities related to nearby Lake Cootharaba and the Great Sandy National Park. Kin Kin is in the Noosa Biosphere Queensland's first UNESCO Biosphere. The name comes from the Aboriginal kauin kauin meaning red soil, another source suggests it is the indigenous name for a species of small black ants that inhabit the area.

Gympie North railway station

Gympie North is a railway station on the Nambour and Gympie North Line of South East Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network, the terminus for interurban services using the North Coast Line, 172.21 km north of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland. The station is in Zone 23 of the TransLink integrated public transport system. It is the northern-most point where TransLink fares continue to apply.

Shire of Cooloola

The Shire of Cooloola was a local government area located about 170 kilometres north of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. The shire covered an area of 2,968.8 square kilometres, and was the product of a merger in 1993 between the City of Gympie and the Shire of Widgee, which had both existed since 1879-1880. It merged with several other LGAs to form the Gympie Region on 15 March 2008.
