Tarraleah, Tasmania

Tarraleah is a small town in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, 126 kilometres north-west of the state capital Hobart, and slightly closer to Queenstown. the town has no longer got residents living in the houses along the main road where as it is now turned in to a relaxing stay. The township was originally built in the 1930s by the Hydro Electric Commission to house Tasmania's pioneering hydro electricity officers and management.

Mount King William

Mount King William is a mountain adjacent to the Lyell Highway in Central Highlands, Tasmania. It is located 10 km south west of Derwent Bridge. It is often a reference point for the 'end' of the inhabited part of the western section of Lyell Highway as there are no permanent structures until Linda; it is inside the eastern boundary of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. There is also Lake King William, south of Derwent Bridge. It is dammed at Butlers Gorge, its south end.

Tungatinah Hydroelectric Power Station

Tungatinah Power Station is a hydroelectric power station in the Lower Derwent River catchment area in Tasmania. It has five turbines, with a combined generating capacity of 125 MW of electricity. Tungatinah's five 25 MW turbines were commissioned between 1953 and 1956.

Derwent Bridge, Tasmania

Derwent Bridge is a locality on the Lyell Highway at the southern edge of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. It is just south of Lake St Clair and the Lake St Clair visitor centre; and it is north of Lake King William and the Butlers Gorge Power Station. It is also the last inhabited location before Linda Valley in the West Coast Range - this section of the highway passes through the Wild Rivers National Park.

Bronte Lagoon

Bronte Lagoon is a lake that was created by Hydro Tasmania in the 1950s along with Bradys Lake, Lake Binney and Tungatinah Lagoon as water storages for the Tungatinah power station on the Nive River. It is located in the Central Highlands of Tasmania south of Lyell Highway, connected to Brady's Lake by Woodwards Canal It is an area where holiday shacks have been made on crown land.
