Yambuk, Victoria

Yambuk is a town in Victoria, Australia. The township was established in the 1850s, the Post Office opening 1 March 1859. At the 2006 census, the town and surrounding area had a population of 540. It is located where the Princes Highway crosses the Shaw River. It is the site of Pacific Hydro’s Yambuk Wind Farm and the adjacent Codrington Wind Farm.

Yambuk Important Bird Area

The Yambuk Important Bird Area comprises a 10 km tract of coastal land fronting Bass Strait in south-western Victoria, south-eastern Australia. It lies some 20 km west of the town of Port Fairy and encompasses the lower reaches of the Eumeralla River and Lake Yambuk.

Deen Maar Indigenous Protected Area

Deen Maar is a coastal property located in south-west Victoria, Australia bounded by the Eumeralla River and Bass Strait. It has an area of 4.53 square kilometres. The country consists of limestone ridges, wetlands, lakes and sand dunes. It is part of the Yambuk Important Bird Area, identified as such by BirdLife International because of its importance for the conservation of threatened species such as the Orange-bellied Parrot and Hooded Plover.

Codrington, Victoria

Codrington is a locality on Portland Bay in the south-west of Victoria, Australia. The Princes Highway passes through it. At the 2006 census, it and the neighbouring township of Yambuk and the surrounding area had a population of 540. It is the site of Pacific Hydro’s Yambuk Wind Farm and the adjacent Codrington Wind Farm. Codrington is notable for the wind farm and for being the only township in Australia to be named after a bushranger.
