The Battle of Geel was a major battle between British and German troops in Belgium during the Second World War. It occurred between 8-23 September 1944, in and around the Flemish city of Geel, and was one of the largest and bloodiest battles to occur during the liberation of Belgium. Nike Laakdal Wind Park
The Nike Windpark Laakdal is a wind park containing 6 RePower MD77 wind turbines with a capacity of 1.5 MW each. It is located on the site of the Nike corporation in Laakdal, Belgium. The wind turbines have a rotor diameter of 77 meters and are installed on a 111.5 meter high steel framework. Roads capable of carrying heavy trucks run between the legs of some of these steel towers.

Groezrock
Groezrock is an annual music festival that takes place in Meerhout, a part of Geel, Belgium. It started out as a small rock and pop festival with a few hundred people attending, but has evolved into a large punk rock/hardcore festival, with attendances now exceeding 30000. Since 2003 there have been stages in 2 marquees. The second stage, Back-to-basics-stage, is reserved for more hardcore oriented bands. Since 2006 the festival has taken place over 2 days, and still has two stages.
