Battle of Bouvines

The Battle of Bouvines, which took place on 27 July 1214, was a medieval battle which ended the twelve-year Angevin-Flanders War. It was fundamental in the early development of France in the Middle Ages by confirming the French crown's sovereignty over the Angevin lands of Brittany and Normandy. Philip Augustus of France defeated an army consisting of Imperial German, English and Flemish soldiers, led by Otto IV of Germany.

Annappes

Annappes is a village and former commune of the Nord Department of France, on the Mark river. In 1970, it was merged with the communes of Ascq and Flers-lez-Lille to form the new commune of Villeneuve d'Ascq. It is today still a district of the commune.

Stadium Lille Métropole

Stade Lille-Metropole is a multi-purpose stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. The stadium was built in 1976 and is able to hold 18,154 spectators. The architect of the stadium was Roger Taillibert. It was recently used as the temporary home stadium of Lille OSC, while the Grand Stade Lille Métropole was being built 2 kilometers away. Previously, the club played in Stade Grimonprez Jooris.
