Itaquaquecetuba is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, in Brazil. The estimated population in 2006 is 352,755, the density is 4,313.46/km² and the area is 82 km². The elevation is 790 m. This place name comes from the Tupi language. The municipality was founded about Itaquaquecetuba between 1560 and 1563 by Jesuits led by Father José de Anchieta, near the Rio Tiete, the beginnings of the city are based on the Catholic chapel of Our Lady of Acute which was founded by the priest.
