Anevo Fortress

The Anevo Fortress (Bulgarian: Аневско кале, Anevsko kale) or Kopsis (Копсис) is a medieval castle in central Bulgaria, the ruins of which are located some 3 kilometres from the village of Anevo in Sopot Municipality, Plovdiv Province. Constructed in the first half of the 12th century, it lies on a steep hilltop at the southern foot of the Balkan Mountains, not far from the Stryama river.

Sub-Balkan valleys

The Sub-Balkan valleys are located between Stara Planina, Vitosha and Sredna Gora. There is great abundance of mineral waters, the most notable spas being Bankya, Sofia, Banya, Pavel Banya, Sliven Mineral Baths, Aitos. They are divided into two parts: western (higher) and eastern (lower).

Osam

The Osam is a river in northern Bulgaria. Its drainage basin is in between that of the river Vit to the west and the Yantra system to the east. The river has two main tributaries in its upper course: the Black Osam takes its source from the foot of Levski Peak in the Balkan Mountains, at an altitude of 1,821 m, while the White Osam has its source on the northern slopes of the Kozya Stena peak. In Troyan, the black and white Osam join.

Beklemeto Pass

Beklemeto Pass, also known as Troyan Pass, is a mountain pass in the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina) in Bulgaria. It connects Troyan and Karnare on the Karlovo Plain. The pass is in north-central Bulgaria 20 km from the town of Troyan. The pass features a ski resort. The pass is on one of the main roads connecting northern and southern Bulgaria. This was the Roman Via Trayana (Trajan road), and some of the Roman remains can still be seen.

Levski Peak (Bulgaria)

Levski Peak is a peak in the central Balkan Mountains, in Lovech Province, Bulgaria. It is named after the famous Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski. The peak is 2,166 metres high and is situated on the main ridge of the mountain range to the west of Golyam Kupen Peak. The peak is more famous with its old name, Ambaritsa. According to the local legends Krali Marko's granaries were located in the area. The Ambaritsa Refuge is situated on its northern slopes, at 2 hours of the peak.
