Millet in a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located approximately 40 kilometres south of Alberta's capital city of Edmonton. The town has won nationally in the Communities in Bloom competition and markets its beautiful setting.

Kavanagh, Alberta

Kavanagh is a hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Leduc County. It is located on Highway 2A between Millet and Leduc, approximately 30 kilometres south of Edmonton. The hamlet was settled by workers of the Kavanagh block of the Canadian National Railway and was named for Charles Edmund Kavanagh, railway superintendent. The grain elevators have since closed and been relocated. Kavanagh was declared a hamlet on January 5, 1980 by Marvin E. Moore, Minister of Municipal Affairs.

Coal Lake

Coal Lake is a long, sinuous lake located approximately 60 km southeast of the city of Edmonton, just northeast of the city of Wetaskiwin. The lake is glacial meltwater channel from the last ice age. The lake starts east of Kavanagh, Alberta, and ends near Gwynne, Alberta. Coal Lake was named in 1892 by J.D.A. Fitzpatrick, a Dominion Land Surveyor, for the coal beds present in many places along the northeast shore.
