Sioux Valley Dakota Nation is a Dakota Nation, they are the Dakota people of the Sioux that reside west of Brandon, Manitoba. The Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has a total population of around 2,400. Westman is a region in the southwestern area of Manitoba, Canada. The area's major service center is the city of Brandon. The region comprises four of Statistics Canada's census divisions of Canada, Manitoba Census Divisions No. 5, No. 6, No. 7, and No. 15. Together they have a land area of 27,242.06 km² (10,518.22 sq mi) and a population of 108,868 as of the 2011 census. The major industry of Westman is agriculture. However there is also some oil production in the southwest area of the region.

Alexander, Manitoba

For the municipality, see: the Rural Municipality of Alexander Alexander, Manitoba is a community on Hwy #1 west of Brandon located in the Rural Municipality of Whitehead The Post Office opened on 10-10-21W as Pulteney in 1882. It became Alexander Station in 1885 and was moved to 17-10-21W and changed to Alexander in 1891. It was made a rail point on the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1882. The community was named for an early settler named Alexander Speers.
