Rural Municipality of Thompson

Thompson is a rural municipality in the Pembina Valley Region of Manitoba, Canada. It had a population of 1,259 according to the Canada 2006 Census. The RM was incorporated on 1 November 1908. It took its name from an early settler and its first postmaster, William Thompson. Thomson homesteaded on 5-5-6W in about 1874 and his home was central to the early community. The area was known locally as Thompsonville at that time.

Pembina Valley Region

The Pembina Valley is the name given to the south-central region of the province of Manitoba, Canada. It is named for its major geographical feature, the Pembina Valley, which runs through the southwestern part of the region. The Pembina Valley was home to 52,126 residents as of the 2001 census. Its major service centre is the city of Winkler. Other important towns include Morden, Altona, and Carman. The region comprises two of Statistics Canada's census divisions of Canada.

Darlingford, Manitoba

Darlingford is small village located about 15 km west of Morden, Manitoba in the Rural Municipality of Pembina in the Pembina Valley region of southern Manitoba, Canada. The postal code for Darlingford is R0G 0L0. Darlingford was founded by James Ephraim Law, builder of the first house in the town. The Law cairn was erected and is a tribute to the steadfast love of family and community that was inherent in the life of John Oliver and Sara Law.

Rural Municipality of Dufferin

Dufferin is a rural municipality in the province of Manitoba in Western Canada. The separately administered town of Carman lies near its centre. The R.M. was named after Frederick Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava who was Governor General of Canada (1872-78). The now rural municipality was described as a new settlement in 1874.
