Sandy Point, Newfoundland and Labrador

Sandy Point was formerly a peninsula but now is an island on the west coast of the of Newfoundland which has been recently transformed into a hidden island as a result of sea level rise and ocean storm-induced coastal erosion. Its former connecting isthmus is known to locals as "The Gap" or "Fannies Crack" The point was also home to a now-abandoned community of the same name. Sandy Point extends 7.2 km into St.

Barachois Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador

Barachois Brook is a Canadian community in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the western coast of the province, on Bay St. George, located 3 miles south of Stephenville Crossing. The post office was established there in 1963. The first Postmaster was Churchill J. Messervey. It has a population of roughly 300 people as of 2012. Barachois Brook once had a RCMP office building which is no longer in use.
