Donkin, Nova Scotia

Donkin is a Canadian rural village on the picturesque coastline of Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island. The smaller communities of Port Caledonia and Schooner Pond are directly adjacent to the village proper, connected by a single strip of road called the Donkin Highway.

Port Caledonia

Port Caledonia is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality on Cape Breton Island. The community received media attention in 2011 when resident Shirley Sampson appeared on the reality television program Canada's Worst Driver 7, ultimately being named the worst driver in Canada.

Port Morien

Port Morien is a small fishing community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the north eastern tip of Cape Breton Island near the rural community Donkin, and the larger center of Glace Bay. As with much of Cape Breton, Port Morien has a long history. It was first shown on a map dated 1580, where it was called "Baie de Mordienne". The presence of coal in Cape Breton was first noted by Intendant Jean Talon in 1671.

Glace Bay Heritage Museum

The Glace Bay Heritage Museum or the Old Town Hall is located in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, in the one-time town hall. The town's memorial to its deceased coal miners is located on the museum grounds. Marconi National Historic Sites of Canada

The Marconi National Historic Site and the Marconi Wireless Station National Historic Site are two National Historic Sites of Canada located in Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, Canada. Both sites commemorate the efforts of Guglielmo Marconi to transmit transatlantic radio signals between North America and Europe in the first decade of the 20th century. The two sites are located within approximately 8 kilometres of one another, and are connected by the Marconi Trail.
