Manitou Lake No. 442, Saskatchewan

The Rural Municipality of Manitou Lake No. 442 is a rural municipality in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan in north western Division 6. The population of this R. M is 590 people. Manitou Lake is named for the Algonquian word meaning “mysterious being. ” It covers 13.3 km, with an average depth of 3.8 m. The village of Marsden lies near its centre, but is technically not part of the rural municipality.

Neilburg, Saskatchewan

Neilburg is small village located in mid-west Saskatchewan. The local population is approximately 500 people. A grade K–12 school is located in the town that services the Neilburg area as well as grade 7–12 students from Marsden. In 1999 crop circles were discovered in a field near the town. Neilburg was named after an early settler, Clifford O’Neil. The first post office was in his home and was located about one mile southeast of where the village is today.

Neilburg Composite School

Neilburg Composite School is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 public school located in the village of Neilburg, Saskatchewan. Formerly under the jurisdiction of the Battle River School Division, NCS is now administered by the Northwest School Division #203. NCS educates students from the Neilburg, Mardsen, Baldwinton and their surrounding rural areas. Students from Neilburg Composite School compete in athletics under the jurisdiction of the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association.

Manitou Lake (Saskatchewan)

Manitou Lake (sometimes spelled Manito) is the largest salt-water lake in the prairie provinces, situated in Western Saskatchewan, near Marsden, Saskatchewan. Because the lake is endorheic and quite salty, there are no fish in the lake, There is one large island in the centre which divides it into four bays. There is very little development on the lake, although on the North-West Bay there is a park which has a golf course, cabins and a Bible Camp.
