Mataquito River

Mataquito is a river located in the Province of Curicó, Maule Region of Chile and formed by the union of rivers Teno and Lontué about 10 kilometers west of Curicó near the locality of Sagrada Familia and empties into the Pacific Ocean south of the town of Iloca, Licantén.

1928 Talca earthquake

The 1928 Talca earthquake was on 1 December 1928 at 00:06 local time. Its epicenter was near Curepto, Maule Region, Chile, and their magnitudes were 7,6 MW, 8,3 MS and 7,9 ML. In Talca, it lasted 1 minute 45 seconds. There was damage between Valparaíso and Concepción. There was severe damage on the coast from Cauquenes to Pichilemu, and in the following cities in the Chilean Central Valley: Talca, Curicó and San Fernando.

Cabeceras

Not to be confused with Las Cabeceras, a nearby hamlet. Cabeceras is a Chilean hamlet (caserío) located in Paredones, Cardenal Caro Province. In 1899, as published on Diccionario Geográfico de la República de Chile by Francisco Solano Asta-Buruaga y Cienfuegos, the hamlet had 470 inhabitants. It is located northwest of then-village Paredones, near the lagoon of Bucalemu.
