Fujian Tulou

Fujian Tulou is a type of Chinese rural dwellings of the Hakka is in the mountainous areas in southeastern Fujian, China. They were mostly built between the 12th and the 20th centuries. A tulou is usually a large, enclosed and fortified earth building, most commonly rectangular or circular in configuration, with very thick load-bearing rammed earth walls between three and five stories high and housing up to 80 families.

Tulou

A tulou, or "earthen building", is a traditional communal residence in the Fujian province of Southern China, usually of a circular configuration surrounding a central shrine. These vernacular structures were occupied by clan groups. Although most tulou were of earthen construction, the definition "tulou" is a broadly descriptive label for a building type and does not indicate construction type. Some were constructed of cut granite or had substantial walls of fired brick.

Tianluokeng Tulou cluster

Tianluokeng tulou cluster (田螺坑土楼群) is one of the better known groups of Fujian Tulou. It is located in Fujian province, Zhangzhou City, Nanjing County, Shuyang Township, Tian Luo Keng Village (literally "Snail Pit" Village) in southern China.

Dabu County

Dabu County is a district of Meizhou, Guangdong Province of China. It is a center of Hakka culture. Dabu County (大埔县)control the following zhen(镇,township) - 湖寮镇(Huliao),高陂镇(Gaopi),茶阳镇(Chayang), 大麻镇(Dama), 三河镇(Sanhe), 银江镇(Yinjiang), 光德镇(Guangde), 桃源镇(Taoyuan), 枫朗镇(Fenglang),大东镇(Dadong), 西河镇(Xihe), 青溪镇(Qingxi), 洲瑞镇(Zhourui), 百侯镇(Baihou). The administrative center is at Huliaozhen(湖寮镇),formerly it was at Chayangzhen(茶阳镇), an ancient town. The people are mainly Hakka.
