San Ramón (canton)

San Ramón is the name of the second canton in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 1,018.64 square kilometres, and has a population of 72,568 (estimate as of 2003). The capital city of the canton is also called San Ramón. An oddly-shaped canton, San Ramon stretches north through the eastern heights of the Cordillera de Tilarán, looking down on the Central Valley (Valle Central) to its east. The canton forms the border with the province of Guanacaste to the west.

Zarcero is the capital city of the canton of Zarcero in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The district of Zarcero covers an area of 12.01 km², and has a population of 4,277.

Alfaro Ruiz (canton)

Zarcero is the name of the 11th canton in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 155.13 square kilometres, and has a population of 11,556 (estimate as of 2003). The capital city of the canton is Zarcero. It is a diamond-shaped canton, with the Río Espina (Thornbush River) as the border on the northwest and the southwest sides. The Río Toro (Bull River) forms the southeastern border, and the Río La Vieja (Old Woman River) borders the northeast.
