Čepin

Čepin is a town and municipality in Osijek-Baranja County, Croatia. It is located in northeast Slavonia, 10 kilometers southwest from Osijek. The first name of the settlement was Villa de Chapo. Cepin, with its 11,599 inhabitants at the 2011 census, is now included in Osijek built-up area. The majority of the population are Croats at 92%. Other minorities include Serbs and Hungarians. There is also an airport, used exclusively for sport and private flying purposes (Sport Airport Čepin).

Battle of Osijek

The Battle of Osijek (Croatian: Bitka za Osijek) was fought between the Croatian National Guard and forces loyal to the Croatian government on one side and the Army of the Republic of Serbian Krajina supported by the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and various Serb paramilitary units on the other, during the Croatian War of Independence.
