Dolní Kounice Synagogue

The first traces of Jewish settlement in Dolní Kounice (today a town in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic) are from half of 15th century. First written note comes from 1581. The old synagogue was located on eastern part of the village and was destroyed by Swedish troops during Thirty Years' War, in 1645. A new one has been built between 1652-1656 in the middle of the new ghetto (the Jewish district of Dolní Kounice, židovská čtvrť v Dolních Kounicích).

Blučina

Blučina is a village and municipality in Brno-Country District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic, some 8 km south of Brno. The municipality covers an area of 16.67 square kilometres, and has a population of 2,039 (as at 3 July 2006). Blučina is known for the Blučina burial, an important Migration period (5th century) burial, discovered in 1953, located on Cezany hill, above the confluence of the Cezava and Svratka rivers.

South Moravian Region

The South Moravian Region is an administrative unit (kraj) of the Czech Republic, located in the south-western part of its historical region of Moravia, with exception of Jobova Lhota, that belongs to Bohemia. Its capital is Brno the 2nd largest city of the Czech Republic. The region is famous for its wine production. The area around the towns of Mikulov, Znojmo, Velké Pavlovice along with the Slovácko region provide 94% of the Czech Republic's vineyards.

Brno-Bohunice

Bohunice is a district of the second largest city in the Czech Republic - Brno. It is located in the southwest part of the city. It is first mentioned in 1237. It began growing rapidly at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1919, Bohunice officially became part of Brno, which meant further growth. Street names first appeared in 1925. In 1921, Bohunice had 202 houses and 1463 inhabitants. Today's statistics show that Bohunice currently have approximately 540 houses with 17 300 inhabitants.
