Upper Alsace

Upper Alsace, was the name of a region ("Bezirk") in the southern part of Alsace-Lorraine (Elsaß-Lothringen) when it was part of the German Empire from 1871 to 1918. It comprised the districts (Kreise) of Altkirch within the Sundgau Colmar Gebweiler (Guebwiller) Mülhausen (Mulhouse) Rappoltsweiler (Ribeauvillé) Thann The capital of the region was Colmar. The region corresponds exactly to the current French department of Haut-Rhin.

The Parc de la Marseillaise is a public arboretum and botantical garden in the center of the town of Guebwiller, in the department of Haut-Rhin, in the Alsace Region of France. It is classified by the French Ministry of Culture as one of the Notable Gardens of France.

Château du Burgstall

The Château du Burgstall is a ruined castle in the commune of Guebwiller in the Haut-Rhin département of France. The castle was believed to be lost. It is rarely mentioned in documents. During the 1960s, the ruins were partially uncovered during the construction of a supermarket. The castle was built at the end of the 12th century or the beginning of the 13th. Masons' marks are evident. The remains indicate an octagonal structure.

Château de Buchenek

The Château de Buchenek is a castle in the commune of Soultz-Haut-Rhin in the Haut-Rhin département of France. Dating from the second half of the 13th century, it was altered, possibly in the 14th century, and in the 16th century. The castle is first recorded in 1251.
