Cure (river)

The Cure is a 112 km long river in central France, a right tributary of the Yonne. Its source is in Gien-sur-Cure, in the Morvan hills. Canal du Nivernais

The Canal du Nivernais links the Loire basin with the Seine basin following approximately the course of the river Yonne in a south to north direction. Beginning in the village of Saint-Léger-des-Vignes, the canal traverses the department of the Nièvre reaching its half-way point at the town of Clamecy and finishes in the town of Auxerre, situated on the River Yonne.

Anus, Yonne

Anus is a populated place in Burgundy, France, within the commune of Fouronnes. Anus was anciently parished with Fouronnes, the parish sometimes being called Fouronne et Anus. In 1848, the two together had seventy households, of which nineteen were at Anus. In the 16th century, Anus had its own seigneur, who in 1598 was Guillaume Girard.

Abbey of la Madaleine, Vézelay

Vézelay Abbey (now known as Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine) was a Benedictine and Cluniac monastery in Vézelay in the Yonne department in northern Burgundy, France. The Benedictine abbey church of Ste-Marie-Madeleine (or Basilica of St. Mary Magdalene), with its complicated program of imagery in sculpted capitals and portals, is one of the outstanding masterpieces of Burgundian Romanesque art and architecture, though much of its exterior sculpture was defaced during the French Revolution.
