The Meu is an 84.8 km long river in the Côtes-d'Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine départements, north western France. Its source is at Saint-Vran, 2.4 km west of the village. It flows generally southeast. It is a right tributaryof the Vilaine into which it flows at Goven, 5.7 km northeast of the village.

It was founded in the 6th century by Saint Meven (Méen), after whom it was eventually named. The original foundation had fallen into disuse by the end of the eighth century. Hélocar, bishop of Alet, refounded it in 818. It was destroyed by Vikings in 919. About a century later, it was reconstructed as a Benedictine monastery.
