Château de Valençay

Château de Valençay is a residence of the d'Estampes and Talleyrand-Périgord families in the commune of Valençay, the Indre département of France. Although geographically it is part of the province of Berry, its architecture invites comparison with the Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley, notably the Château de Chambord. The manor was praised as "one of the most beautiful on earth" by George Sand, who also noted that "no king has owned a more picturesque park".

Valençay SOE Memorial

The Valençay SOE Memorial is a monument to the members of the Special Operations Executive F Section who lost their lives for the liberation of France. The memorial was unveiled in the town of Valençay in the Indre département of France on May 6, 1991, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the despatch of F Section's first agent to France. It was designed by Elizabeth Lucas Harrison, who originally gave it the name 'Spirit of Partnership'.

Sauldre

The Sauldre is a river in central France, right tributary of the river Cher. Its source is near the village Montigny, southwest of Sancerre. The Sauldre flows generally northwest through the following départements and towns: Cher: Vailly-sur-Sauldre, Argent-sur-Sauldre Loir-et-Cher: Salbris, Romorantin-Lanthenay The Sauldre flows into the river Cher near Selles-sur-Cher. The Rère is among its tributaries.

Châteauroux-Déols Air Base

Châteauroux-Déols Air Base is a former United States Air Force base in France. It is located in the Indre département of France, located about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Châteauroux and about 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Déols on the east side of the Départemental 920 (D920) (Indre) road in Central France. During the Cold War, Châteauroux-Déols was a front-line base for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE).
