Château de Beauregard, Loire Valley

The Château de Beauregard is a Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley in France. It is located on the territory of the commune of Cellettes, a little south of the city of Blois and a few miles from other famous Loire châteaux such as Cheverny. Although still inhabited, it can be visited by tourists. The castle is renowned for its Gallery of portraits decorated in the 17th century with 327 portraits of famous people.

Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre

Not to be confused with the Château de Fougères in Ille-et-Vilaine. The Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre is a castle in the commune of Fougères-sur-Bièvre in the Loir-et-Cher département of France. Originally an 11th century structure, it was entirely rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, only the large square keep being preserved. The first works kept the military aspect (ditches, cannon-holes, wall walk, etc.

1947 BOAC Douglas C-47 crash

The 1947 BOAC Douglas C-47 Crash occurred on 11 January 1947 when Douglas C-47A G-AGJX of British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) crashed into a hill at Stowting, Kent, in southeast England, killing five people outright, with a further three dying from injuries received. The aircraft had been operating a scheduled international flight to West Africa via France. Poor weather caused the aircraft to attempt to divert.
