The Château de Chacenay is a castle situated in the commune of Chacenay, in the Aube département of France. Recorded since 1075, it was the fief of numerous great families over the years. Construction of the castle began in the 13th century. Clairvaux Abbey (Clara Vallis in Latin) is a Cistercian monastery in Ville-sous-la-Ferté, 15 km from Bar-sur-Aube, in the Aube département in northeastern France. The original building, founded in 1115 by St. Bernard, is now in ruins; a high-security prison, the Clairvaux Prison, now occupies the grounds. Clairvaux Abbey was a good example of the general layout of a Cistercian monastery. The Abbey has been listed since 1926 as a Historical monument by the French Ministry of Culture.
