The Urban Community of Greater Toulouse, also simply known as Grand Toulouse (i.e. "Greater Toulouse"), is the intercommunal structure gathering the city of Toulouse and some of its suburbs. It was created on January 1, 2009, succeeding the agglomeration community of Greater Toulouse, which had itself succeeded in 2001 a previous District created in 1992 with less powers than either the agglomeration community or the current urban community.

The Canal du Midi (Occitan: Canal de las Doas Mars, meaning canal of the two seas) is a 240 km long canal in Southern France. The canal connects the Garonne River to the Étang de Thau on the Mediterranean and along with the 193 km long Canal de Garonne forms the Canal des Deux Mers joining the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. The canal runs from the city of Toulouse down to the Étang de Thau. The Canal du Midi was built by Pierre-Paul Riquet.

Airbus Industrie Flight 129
Airbus Industrie Flight 129 refers to an Airbus A330-300 that crashed on 30 June 1994 at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport while undergoing performance tests. It was the first fatal accident involving an Airbus A330 as well as the first hull-loss of the type. It remained the only fatal accident involving an A330 until the crash of Air France Flight 447 on 1 June 2009.
