Château de Larroque-Toirac

The Château de Larroque-Toirac is a mediaeval castle in the commune of Larroque-Toirac in the Lot département of France. Its origins go back to the 13th century and it was modified at various times up to the last quarter of the 17th century. Hanging from the side of a high cliff, dominating the village and the valley of the Lot River, in an exceptionally defensive site, the castle, which was on several occasions taken by the English, has preserved its mediaeval defence system.

The castle dates originaly from the 12th century, with further building and alterations in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Château de Lacapelle-Marival is owned by the commune and used as offices. Célé

The Célé is a 104 km long river in the Cantal and Lot départements, south-western France, right tributary of the Lot River. Its source is near Calvinet. Pech Merle

Pech Merle is a cave which opens onto a hillside at Cabrerets in the Lot département of the Midi-Pyrénées region in France, about 35 minutes by road east of Cahors. It is the home of one of the few prehistoric cave painting sites in France which remain open to the general public. Extending for more than a mile from the entrance are caverns the walls of which are painted with dramatic murals dating from the Gravettian culture (some 25,000 years B.C.

Château de Barasc

The Château de Barasc is a 14th century feudal castle in the commune of Béduer in the Lot département of France. All that remains of the castle, perched on a hillside, are the restored keep and a tower. It is an example of 14th century Romanesque architecture. The castle is private property and is not open to the public.
