Agglomeration community of Artois

The Communauté d'agglomération de l'Artois (Artois Comm. ) is an administrative entity in the Pas-de-Calais département, in northern France. Administrative center: Béthune. It covers 58 communes, and has a population of approximately 200,000. It is the largest such communauté in Pas-de-Calais (but the most populated is the Communaupole of Lens-Liévin). It is named after Artois, a former province of France. It was created in 2002.

Nord-Pas de Calais, Nord for short, is one of the 27 regions of France. It consists of the departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais, in the north and has a border with Belgium, and west with the UK. Most of the region was once part of the Southern Netherlands, within the Low Countries, and gradually became part of France between 1477 and 1678.

Notre Dame de Lorette

Notre Dame de Lorette, also known as Ablain St. -Nazaire French Military Cemetery, is the world's largest French military cemetery. It is the name of a ridge, basilica, and French national cemetery northwest of Arras at the village of Ablain-Saint-Nazaire. The high point of the hump-backed ridge stands 165 metres high and - with Vimy Ridge - utterly dominates the otherwise flat Douai plain and the town of Arras.
