Montroc
Montroc is a hamlet in eastern France, located in the territory of the commune of Chamonix. Montroc was partially destroyed on the 9th of February 1999 by a slab avalanche on Mont Blanc killing 12 people. In July, 2003, the Mayor of Chamonix, Michel Charlet, received a three month suspended prison sentence for his part in the handling of events immediately prior to the avalanche.

Col des Montets
Col des Montets is a mountain pass in the French Alps in the Haute-Savoie department of France. It is on the road between Chamonix and Martigny in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It lies between the Swiss Col de la Forclaz and Chamonix. The pass is generally open in winter, but it can be closed in extreme weather and will frequently require snow chains and/or winter tires. Conditions can be checked with Chamonix tourist office.

Albert Premier Hut
The Albert Premier Hut (sometimes known as Albert 1er) is located on the Haute Route between Chamonix, France and Zermatt, Switzerland. It is at 2,702 metres above sea level. It is a popular hut with day hikers because of the short hike (2 to 3 hours) and beautiful views, like those into Chamonix Valley. The hut is usually used less by hikers attempting the entire Haute Route, but is popular as a base for climbers attempting the Aiguille du Chardonnet and the Aiguille du Tour.
