German Armed Forces United Nations Training Center

The German Armed Forces United Nations Training Center (German: VN Ausbildungszentrum der Bundeswehr) in Hammelburg was founded in October 1999 and is the training center of the Bundeswehr for preparing military and civilian personal for UN operations within the framework of international conflict prevention and crisis management.

Up from the Ground

Up from the Ground was an extreme metal festival held annually in August in Gemünden am Main/Steinwiesen, Germany from 2000. The 2007 edition took place on August 24-August 25 and was the last edition of the festival. There was no festival in 2008, and the event's future is very much in doubt owing to the promoters' fears arising from, among other things, what they consider to be a poor location.

Rieneck Castle

Rieneck Castle is a castle built by Ludwig I, Count of Loon and Rieneck, in the year 1151. The city of Rieneck is situated about 80 km east of Frankfurt. The castle now serves as a Scouting facility and is owned by the German Christian Guide and Scout Association, VCP. The castle's programme includes many interesting Scouting activities such as arts and crafts, pioneering and middelage trades and offers accommodation, Internet connection (see image to the right) and a campsite.

Erlasee Solar Park

The Erlasee Solar Park, also sometimes called the Gut Erlasee Solar Park, is a photovoltaic power station located in one of the sunniest regions of Germany. On the former wine-producing Erlasee estate near Arnstein in Bavaria, in southern Germany, Solon SE has constructed what was, at the time of its construction, the largest tracking photovoltaic solar power station in the world with maximum installed capacity of 12 MW.

Schönrain Priory

Schönrain Priory (Kloster Schönrain) was a house of the Benedictine Order located near Lohr in the Spessart, in Bavaria in Southern Germany. There is a legend that it was originally founded in the Carolingian period, in about 750, by Saint Lioba, and it is true that a few traces of architecture from that period survive.
