Fläming Heath

The Fläming Heath is a region and a hill chain that reaches over 100 km from the Elbe river to the Dahme River in the German states Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. Its highest elevation is the Hagelberg (201 m). The name Fläming originates from the 12th century, when Flemish colonists came to settle in the region from the overcrowded cities of Flanders. Today, the Fläming Heath is a rural area, which benefits from its vicinity to the Berlin metropolitan area.

Elbaue-Fläming

Elbaue-Fläming was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("administrative community") in the district of Wittenberg, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was situated on the right bank of the Elbe, north and east of Wittenberg. The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Zahna. It was disbanded in January 2011. The Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Elbaue-Fläming consisted of the following municipalities (population in 2005 in brackets):

Brück aerial testing facility

The Brück aerial testing facility is a facility for testing aerials at Brück, south of Berlin. It was established in 1939. On the Brück aerial testing facility there are two 54 metre high wood framework towers built in 1963, made without any metallic parts and used for mounting aerials to measure their characteristics. One of these towers, the Messturm III, consists of two towers connected by a bridge on top, while the other, the Messturm II is from conventional design.

Melanchthonhaus (Wittenberg)

Not to be confused with the Melanchthonhaus (Bretten). The Melanchthonhaus is a townhouse in the German town of Lutherstadt Wittenberg. It is a Renaissance building with late Gothic arched windows and the broad-tiered gables. It includes the study of the Protestant Reformer Philipp Melanchthon, who lived there with his family. In 1954 the house became a museum on Melanchthon's life and work displaying paintings, prints and manuscripts by him and his contemporaries.
