Roggenstede

Roggenstede is a village of Dornum township, Landkreis Aurich, Ostfriesland, Lower Saxony, Germany. The place is bounded by the Dornumersieler Tief (in the North/Northeast), the Schleitief (in the Southeast), the Otjetief (in the South), the Alte Tief (in the West) and covers an area of about 5,6 square kilometers. The distance to the North Sea is about 5,5 km air-line distance. Neighbouring places are Fulkum, Utarp and Westerbur.

Harlebucht

The Harlebucht or Harle Bay was originally a bay approximately 15 kilometers wide that reached about 10 kilometers inland north of Wittmund in today’s East Frisia. (A more appropriate translation of bucht here might be Bight; the German word can mean either. ) The water encroachments into the hinterland in the Grote Mandrenke (Second Marcellus Flood) in 1362, which reached as far as the Geest near Jever, gave rise to side bays and greatly enlarged the Harlebucht.

Wittmund (district)

Wittmund is a Landkreis (district) in the northwestern part of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in East Frisia, on the North Sea coast. Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise) Friesland, Leer and Aurich.

Harle (river)

The Harle is a small river in the district of Wittmund in East Frisia, a historic region in North Germany. Its entire course is within the borough of Wittmund and it dischages near Harlesiel through a Siel, a sluice in the dyke, into the North Sea. Near the village of Willen two headstreams Nordertief and Südertief join to form the Harle. Both tributaries are streams that originate in moor depressions in the neighbouring borough of Aurich.
