Stone Fields in the Schmale Heath and Extension

The Stone Fields in the Schmale Heath and Extension (German: Naturschutzgebiet Steinfelder in der Schmalen Heide und Erweiterung) is a nature reserve, 199 hectares in area, on the German island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It includes the flint fields, a representative section of the Schmale Heath and a separate extension with near-natural coastal dunes. The reserve was created on 27 April 1935. Two extensions of the nature reserve area came into force in the years 1959 and 1990.

Dobberworth

The Dobberworth or Dubberworth is one of the largest prehistoric tumuli in northern Germany, located on the isle of Rügen near Sagard. The Dubberworth is about 15 metres tall, and was made from an estimated 22,000 m of earth, making it the largest tumulus of Rügen. Archaeologists were not yet able to date the tumulus precisely, but assume it was used during the Bronze Age.

Flint field

Flint fields are large natural deposits of flint. They are found in numerous Jurassic and Cretaceous beds across the whole of Europe. Such deposits may be found in Aachen-Lousberg, Kleinkems, Schernfeld, Osterberg bei Pfünz, Baiersdorf, Abensberg-Arnhofen and Lengfeld as well as the German island of Rügen.

Großer Jasmunder Bodden

The Großer Jasmunder Bodden belongs to the North Rügen Bodden and is a water body on the southern edge of the Baltic Sea in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is a bodden, a type of lagoon that occurs in northern Europe especially on the coast of Pomerania. It lies within the island of Rügen, is around 14 kilometres long, an average of six kilometres wide and is up to seven metres deep.
