Interesting facts about this location

Heimkehle

The Heimkehle is one of two great gypsum caves in Germany that are accessible as show caves. It lies on the southern edge of the Harz Mountains between Rottleberode and Uftrungen, east of Nordhausen, right on the state border between Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. The cave may be visited as part of a 45 minute long guided tour.

Goldene Aue

The Goldene Aue is a valley in eastern Germany, in the states Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. It is situated between the towns Nordhausen in the west, and Sangerhausen in the east. It is bordered by the mountain ranges Harz in the north, and Windleite and Kyffhäuser in the south. The river Helme flows through the Goldene Aue. Goldene Aue is also the name of two Verwaltungsgemeinschaften ("collective municipalities") in the valley: Goldene Aue, Saxony-Anhalt

Goldene Aue is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Before 1 January 2010, it was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft. It is situated south and west of Sangerhausen. It is named after the Goldene Aue valley. The seat of the Verbandsgemeinde is in Kelbra.
