Islampur, Murshidabad

Islampur is a small town in the district of Murshidabad, West Bengal. It is constituted of two census towns according to the 2011 Census of India, Islampur (314805) and Harharia Chak (314806). Islampur is named after Islam Khan, Dewaan of the then-Nawab, who tented in Goas 2 kilometers from the town in 1717. Islampur is situated in the Domkol subdivision under the block Raninagar-I. The town is under the newly-formed Raninagar assembly constituency.
