Balaghat

Balaghat is a city and a municipality in Balaghat district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Balaghat District. The town was originally called "Burha" or "Boora", but this name was replaced by "Balaghat", which was originally the name of the district only. Balaghat means "above the ghats or passes."

Balaghat Junction railway station

Balaghat Railway Junction is situated on the Jabalpur-Nainpur-Gondia section of South East Central Railway, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Rail routes through the junction include routes towards Nainpur, Mandla, Jabalpur, Gondia, Katangi and Bharveli on the Satpura narrow gauge lines. The "10001 Satpura Express", a narrow gauge train, was started in 1901 by the British Government and completed 100 years of service in 2001.
