St. Brigids (Roscommon) GAA

St. Brigids GAA Club (Naomh Bríd) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parishes of Kiltoom and Cam in South County Roscommon, Ireland. They play in Green and Red colours and their home pitch is at Newpark, Kiltoom. The club was founded in 1944 and is the home club of one of the all-time GAA greats, Gerry O'Malley.

Geographical centre of Ireland

The geographical centre of Ireland is where the 8° Meridian West meets the 53°30' North Latitude in the townland of Carnagh East, County Roscommon on the western shore of Lough Ree, opposite the Cribby Islands and 8.85 kilometres NNW of Athlone Town. Lecarrow is the closest population centre. The Hill of Uisneach was in ancient times considered to be the centre of Ireland. Up to recently a fire was lit every May Day and a Mass was celebrated on the hill.

Lough Ree

Lough Ree is a lake in the midlands of Ireland, the second of the three major lakes on the River Shannon. Lough Ree is the second largest lake on the Shannon after Lough Derg. The other two major lakes are Lough Allen to the north, and Lough Derg to the south, there are also several minor lakes along the length of the river.

Athlone railway station

Athlone railway station of which there were two, serves the town of Athlone in County Roscommon and County Westmeath. It is located in the town on the east side of the river Shannon. The station is an interchange station between the Dublin-Galway and Dublin-Westport rail services. In addition it is located adjacent to the town's bus station. There are three platforms, of which Numbers 2 and 3 are an island platform.

Sean's Bar

Sean's Bar is a pub in Athlone, Ireland. It claims to be the oldest pub in Ireland, dating back to 900, and received a certificate in 2004 from Guinness World Records repeating the claim. Sean's Bar is located on Main Street, Athlone, on the West Bank of the River Shannon, and was originally known as Luain's Inn. It is often colloquially referred to simply as Sean's. During renovations in 1970, the walls of the bar were found to be made of wattle and wicker, dating back to the tenth century.
