Challenge of Barletta

The Challenge of Barletta was a tournament fought in the country of Trani near Barletta, southern Italy, on 13 February 1503, on the plains between Corato and Andria. The tournament was provoked by a French knight Charles de la Motte who, after drinking too much of the local wine, made disparaging remarks about the Italians.

Battle of Ruvo

The Battle of Ruvo was fought on 23 February 1503 between a Spanish army under Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba and Diego de Mendoza and a French army commanded by Jacques de la Palice. The battle was part of the Second Italian War and was fought at the town of Ruvo in the Province of Bari, modern-day Italy. The result was a Spanish victory.

Ruvo Cathedral (Italian: Concattedrale di Ruvo di Puglia, Concattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, Duomo di Ruvo di Puglia)) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Ruvo di Puglia, Apulia, southern Italy, dedicted to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Formerly the seat of the Diocese of Ruvo, it is now a co-cathedral in the Diocese of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi.
