HVDC Italy–Greece

The HVDC Italy–Greece is a monopolar submarine power cable link between Italy and Greece with a maximum transmission power of 500 megawatts. It went in service in 2001. The HVDC Italy–Greece begins in the static inverter plant Galatina situated at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:40|9|53|N|18|7|49|E|type:landmark | |name=Galatina HVDC Static Inverter }} in Italy and is implemented in its first 43 kilometres as underground cables.

Otranto Cathedral

Otranto Cathedral or the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata (Saint Mary of the Annunciation) is the most important Christian church in the Italian city of Otranto and is the seat of the Archdiocese of Otranto. It was consecrated in 1088. It is 54 metres long by 25 metres wide. It is built on 42 monolithic granite and marble columns from unknown quarries. Its plan is a three-aisled nave with an apsidal east end. On either side of the west facade are two lancet windows.
