TWA Flight 800 (1964)

TWA Flight 800 was a Boeing 707 that crashed during take off on runway 25 at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, Rome at 13:05 GMT on a flight to Athens International Airport, Greece on 23 November 1964. As the Boeing 707 was at 80 knots, the instruments for No. 4 engine indicated zero thrust and the thrust reverser deployment light for No. 2 engine illuminated. The crew aborted the takeoff at a speed below V1 at 800-900m down the runway.

Ponte Galeria Airfield

Ponte Galeria Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield in Italy, located approximately 11 km northeast of Fiumicino, 15 km west-southwest of Rome. It was an all-weather temporary field built by the United States Army Air Force XII Engineer Command using a graded earth compacted surface, with a prefabricated hessian (burlap) surfacing known as PHS.

Fiumicino Aeroporto railway station

Fiumicino Aeroporto railway station, or Fiumicino Airport railway station (Italian: Stazione di Fiumicino Aeroporto), is sited within the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (Italian: Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci di Fiumicino) in Fiumicino, Lazio, central Italy. Opened in 1990, the station is the southwestern terminus of the Rome–Fiumicino railway.

Portus

Portus was a large artificial harbour of Ancient Rome. Sited on the north bank of the mouth of the Tiber, on the Tyrrhenian coast, it was established by Claudius and enlarged by Trajan to supplement the nearby port of Ostia. The archaeological remains of the harbour are near the modern-day Italian village of Porto within the Comune of Fiumicino, just south of Rome in Lazio.
