Roman Catholic Diocese of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino

Piperno

Piperno (ancient Privernum), is a town of the province of Rome in Lazio region, central Italy. It is 98 km southeast of Rome by rail. The population of the town in 1901 was 6,736. The town has a picturesque piazza, with a Gothic cathedral built in 1283. A Gothic palazzo pubblico and other Gothic churches exist in the town. Polygonal terrace walls of the pre-Roman period exist at various places in the vicinity. It was the birthplace of the canonist Reginald of Piperno.
