Bormida di Spigno

The Bormida di Spigno is a river of north-west Italy. Its headwaters are in the Ligurian province of Savona above Pian dei Corsi in a transitional zone between the Alpine and Apennine mountain ranges, where its waters run as the separate “Bormidas” of Mallare and Pallare in distinct close valleys before quickly joining in a few kilometers. It joins with the Bormida (or Bormida di Millesimo) near Bistagno in the Piedmontese province of Alessandria.

Versa (Tanaro)

The Versa, a left tributary of the Tanaro, is a 35 kilometre torrent in the Province of Asti in north-west Italy. It is the river of the valley called Valle Versa. In 1836 the Versa was identified, along with the Rotaldo, the Grana, the Stura and the Gattola, as one of the five torrents of the still extant Province of Casale. Its source is a little to the north of Cocconato near the border with the Province of Turin.

Forum Fulvii

Forum Fulvii was a small but flourishing Ligurian/Celtic first, then Roman settlement on the Via Fulvia, a road of north-west Italy, probably laid out by M. Fulvius Flaccus, consul in 125 BCE, from Dertona (today’s Tortona) to Hasta Pompeia (Asti). It has sometimetimes been identified with Valenza, but is now known to have been in the village of Villa del Foro, a suburb of Alessandria, population 433, some 7 km WSW of the town’s centre.
