Trepča Mines

The Trepča Mines (Albanian: Miniera e Trepçës, Serbian: Рудници Трепча, Rudnici Trepča) is a huge industrial complex in Kosovo, located in Mitrovica. With up to 23,000 employees, Trepča was once one of the biggest companies in socialist Yugoslavia. In the 1930s, a British company gained the rights to exploit the Stari Trg mine close to Mitrovica. After World War II, under socialist management, the company expanded dramatically.

Sitnica

The Sitnica, is a 90 km long river in Kosovo. It flows into the Ibar River at Kosovska Mitrovica, and it's the longest river that flows completely within Kosovo's borders.

Zvečan Fortress

The Fortress of Zvečan, located in the north-west of the city of Kosovska Mitrovica, in North Kosovo, is an enormous castle and one of the oldest fortresses in South Eastern Europe. It was built on the top of the extinct volcano vent, overlooking the Ibar river. Zvečan Fortress was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia.

North Kosovska Mitrovica

North Kosovska Mitrovica is the northern part of the city of Kosovska Mitrovica, which the river Ibar divides from the rest of the city. It is a part and de facto capital of North Kosovo, a region with an ethnic Serb majority that functions largely autonomously from the remainder of the ethnic-Albanian-majority Kosovo and acts as the region's capital.

New Bridge in Kosovska Mitrovica

The New Bridge (also known as Mitrovica Bridge or Ibar River Bridge) is a steel truss bridge crossing the Ibar river in Kosovska Mitrovica, in northern Kosovo. The New Bridge has become an iconic symbol of Kosovo division, as it separates around 80,000 Kosovo Albanians in the south from about half as many Serbs living in the north. It is used as a military checkpoint and provides a defacto border between Serbia and Kosovo.
