Marudi, Sarawak

Marudi is a town on the Baram River in the north of Sarawak which borders the state of Sabah in Malaysia and the small country of Brunei. Marudi is a quiet town situated inland from Miri, similar in size to Kapit though nowhere near as busy. Its main attraction is another of the Brooke outposts, the beige wooden Fort Hose. It is the cultural heart of Sarawak's highland tribesfolk, collectively called Orang Ulu.

Kelabit Highlands

The Kelabit Highlands are a mountain range located in the northernmost part of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo. The highest mountains in this range are Mount Murud at 2,423 m (7,946 ft), Bukit Batu Buli at 2,082 m (6,831 ft), and Bukit Batu Lawi at 2,046 m (6,713 ft). The Kelabit Highlands hosts 14 villages, 7 of which are in the Bario area, and the others around the outskirts of the plateau.
