Ciudad del Carmen

Ciudad del Carmen is a city in the southwest of the Mexican state of Campeche. Ciudad del Carmen is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:18.63|N|91.83|W||||| | |name= }} on the southwest of Carmen Island, which stands in the Laguna de Términos on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The 2005 census population was 154,197 people. In July 2006 Ciudad del Carmen celebrated its 150th anniversary as a city. The city is nicknamed "The Pearl of the Gulf".

Zacatal Bridge

The Zacatal Bridge (Spanish: Puente El Zacatal) is located southwest of Ciudad del Carmen, in the state of Campeche in Mexico. It connects the Atasta peninsula and the Isla del Carmen. This is the longest bridge in the state and at the time of opening the longest in Latin America, with a length of 3,861 m and a width of 9.00 m. It is a two-lane road bridge for the Federal Highway 180. It is one of the busiest in the country since it is the gateway to the Yucatán Peninsula.

Laguna de Términos

Laguna de Términos (Términos Lagoon) is made up of a series of rich, sediment-laden lagoons and tidal estuaries connected by two channels to the Bay of Campeche in the southern part of Gulf of Mexico, in Carmen Municipality in the southwestern part of the Mexican state of Campeche. Its shores are swampy and support mangroves.
