Xochipala

Xochipala is a minor archaeological site in the Mexican state of Guerrero, whose name has become attached, somewhat erroneously, to a style of Formative Period figurines and pottery from 1500 to 200 BCE. The archaeological site belongs to the Classic and Postclassic eras, from 200-1400 CE.

2011 Zumpango earthquake

The 2011 Zumpango earthquake was a magnitude 6.5 Mw earthquake that affected several major cities in southern Mexico at 19:47 local time on Saturday, 10 December 2011. Its epicenter was located in the city Zumpango, Guerrero, roughly equidistant between the metropolitan areas of Mexico City and Acapulco. The quake was felt in Guerrero, Michoacán, Mexico State, Mexico City and Puebla.

Chichihualco

Chichihualco is a city in the south of Mexico. It forms the administrative centre of the municipality of Leonardo Bravo, found in the centre of Guerrero state about 21 kilometres northwest of the state capital, Chilpancingo. According to Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Data Processing (INEGI), the city was home to 4,783 men and 5,296 women, a total of 10,079 inhabitants in 2005.
