Het Bildt

het Bildt is a municipality in the province of Friesland in the northern Netherlands; its capital is Sint Annaparochie. As of 1 November 2006 it had a population of 10,975. Het Bildt has 15.4 kilometers of coastline. Its soil is very fertile and agriculture is a major part of its economy; crops grown include onions, potatoes, and a variety of fruits.

Firdgum

Firdgum is a small village in Franekeradeel in the province Friesland of the Netherlands and has around the 100 citizens (2004). The Dutch reformed church of Firdgum was demolished in 1794 as it was in a bad state of repair, but the 13th century church tower still remains to date. The tower houses a clock dating from 1471.

Sint Annaparochie is the principal and largest settlement within the municipality of Het Bildt in Friesland, the Netherlands. It lies approximately 15 km northwest of Leeuwarden and has approximately four thousand inhabitants. The village is named after Saint Anne, the mother of Mary. St. Annaparochie was founded in the 16th century. Though it is located in the province of Friesland, the principal language spoken in the town is Bildts or Dutch, not West Frisian.
