Holwierde is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Delfzijl, and lies about 26 km northeast of Groningen. In 2001, the town of Holwierde had 813 inhabitants. Spijk is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Delfzijl, and lies about 26 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of Groningen. In 2001, the town of Spijk had 1132 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.50 km, and contained 475 residences. The statistical area "Spijk", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1250.

Zeerijp
Zeerijp is a village north of city of Groningen. Its most striking building is its medieval brick church with detached bell tower. Formerly dedicated to John the Baptist, now it is a Dutch Reformed church. Also there is a famous organ inside the church, a Faber organ. Because there are so few inhabitants, Zeerijp has no shops, but there is a primary school 'De Wilgenstee' and a cafe. Also, there is a famous mill, 'de Leeuw'. There is also a gold and silver smith, Van Hulsen.
