Gulpen-Wittem

Gulpen-Wittem is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands (in the province of Limburg) with 14.677 inhabitants as of 2008. Gulpen-Wittem came into being after the merger of the municipalities Gulpen and Wittem. This took place after a request of both municipalities. At the time of the merger, both municipalities had about 8000 inhabitants, although Wittem was bigger than Gulpen. The town hall was situated in Gulpen, and has kept its function as town hall in the new municipality.

Berghem, Limburg

Berghem is a small hamlet in the Netherlands, in the province of Limburg. It is located about 1 km south of the town of Gulpen, in the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem. In the 19th century, the hamlet had about 100 inhabitants; nowadays, it is not much larger.

Epen

Epen is a town in the southern part of the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, and lies about 15 km southwest of Kerkrade. The town is known for its timber framed houses and is part of the sightseeing tour the Mergellandroute. In 2005, Epen had 740 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.11 km², and contained 197 residences.

Gulpen

Gulpen is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is approximately midway between the Dutch city of Maastricht and the German city of Aachen. Gulpen was a separate municipality until 1999, when it merged with Wittem. The newly formed municipality is called Gulpen-Wittem. The town itself derives its name from the river Gulp, which runs straight through the centre of the village and characterises the townscape.

Slenaken

Slenaken is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, and is one of the southernmost villages of the Netherlands. Slenaken was a separate municipality until 1982, when it was merged with Wittem.
