Edgecumbe

Edgecumbe is a town in the Bay of Plenty of the North Island of New Zealand, 15 kilometres to the west of Whakatane and eight kilometres south of the Bay's coast. It is the main service town for the agricultural region surrounding the plains of the Rangitaiki River, which flows through the town. It has a population of approximately 1800, though that number is falling. State Highway 2 and the Taneatua Branch railway line (disused) pass through the town.

Whakatane Airport

Whakatane Airport is an airport serving the township of Whakatane, New Zealand and surrounding tourist attractions. The "excitingly different" terminal building, was designed and built in the 1970s by Roger Walker. The airport's main movements include Eagle Airways/Air New Zealand Beech 1900D aircraft to Auckland and to Wellington. The airport also houses a flight school, agricultural aircraft and commercial helicopter operations.
